It’s back to school time, which means parents are busy helping their children get back into learning mode. It’s also a great time to add a new lesson in their curriculum - one that will last a lifetime. Money management.According to a 2024 WalletHub study, Arkansas ranked last in financial literacy. The study analyzed financialeducation programs and consumer habits in each of the 50 states and the District of Columbia, ranking them based on three key dimensions: financial planning and habits, financial knowledge and education, and WalletHub’s proprietary WalletLiteracy Test score.
Prevention is the Key
Recently, the Arkansas State Police (ASP) issued a reminder for parents to remain vigilant in recognizing and preventing online predators from targeting children. This summer alone, ASP has issued several Missing/ Endangered Advisories for missing children and teens, including five Amber Alerts since May.

Boozman’s Office surpasses 100 Veterans Interviews
U.S. Senator John Boozman (R-AR), a champion of the Library of Congress Veterans History Project (VHP), presented interviews with Arkansans for preservation in the national collection. The new submissions mark more than 100 interviews conducted by Boozman’s office.
State Capitol Week
Learns Act LITTLE ROCK – More than 3,000 families applied for Education Freedom Accounts during the first week of August, bringing the total number of applicants statewide to 15,365. The Internet portal for applications had been closed over the summer and reopened on July 29, when about 12,000 applications had been approved.
BNR to Begin Restoration of the Lower Tyler Bend River Access
HARRISON – Buffalo National River will begin renovations to the Lower Tyler Bend River Access beginning Monday, August 12, 2024. The lower access point serves as the primary river access for the Tyler Bend Area.
Moose Lodge hosts lasagna dinner
Mountain Home Moose Lodge #1953 will hold a lasagna dinner fundraiser this coming Friday, August 16 from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. The menu includes a healthy slab of homemade lasagna, salad, bread, dessert and a beverage.
