Annual Upper River Clean-Up

Youth Shot in Dodd City was self-inflicted

Alexander, Sheriff Marion County Sheriff Gregg Alexander reports that on June 22, 2026, at approximately 11:45 a.m., the Marion County Emergency 911 (E911) Center received a call from an individual stating he was transporting his son, a sixteen-year-old male (16- year-old-male) to the ambulance bay in Yellville with a .22 caliber gunshot wound to his abdomen. MCSO Investigators met the caller and victim at the ambulance bay where the victim was transported by ambulance alert and in stable condition to Baxter Health in Mountain Home for treatment. During an interview with Investigators at Baxter Health, the father of the victim stated he was returning home to his residence on State Highway (SH) 125 North in the Dodd City area of Marion County, when he heard a “pop” from inside the house. He stated as he walked through the door into the house, he saw the victim fall to the floor. The victim was immediately picked up and transported to the ambulance bay in Yellville by personally owned vehicle (POV).

Sanders Orders Flags to Half-Staff in Remembrance of Marked Tree Police Department Officer Trevor Howard

TO ALL TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS COME – GREETINGS: WHEREAS: On the early morning of Sunday, June 28, 2026, Marked Tree Police Department officers Trevor Howard and Anthony Johnson were traveling on Highway 14 and were struck by an oncoming vehicle; WHEREAS: Officer Trevor Howard sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced deceased, and Officer Anthony Johnson sustained critical injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment; WHEREAS: Our law enforcement officers are Arkansas’ finest, putting their lives at risk in the line of duty to protect and serve the people of our state, and; WHEREAS: Arkansans are praying for officers Howard and Johnson, their families, the Marked Tree Police Department, and the entire community that has been impacted by this tragedy.
