Starting this week, Arkansas families who rely on SNAP benefits — commonly known as food stamps — will notice a change at the checkout counter. As of July 1, the state’s new SNAP Nutrition Waiver removes candy, soda, and several sugary drinks from the list of items that can be purchased with SNAP or Summer EBT benefits.

We live in a world of comparison, even in the Christian world there is comparison.

In every community, there are moments when a small setback can throw life off balance. A propane tank runs empty during a cold snap. A prescription copay comes due before payday. A new job requires work boots that aren’t in the budget. A car repair stands between a parent and their shift at work. These aren’t dramatic crises — they’re the everyday challenges that can quickly become overwhelming when money is tight.
