Partnership Brings UAM Bachelor’s Programs in Business/ Education to UA Northark

Hurt at BTSA

The next show is May 15, 2026, at Bull Shoals Theater of the Arts and will start at 7 to 9 p.m. Allen Hurt has been entertaining music fans since an early age and has written over 1500 original songs, known for his unique tenor vocals that would become his trademark sound. Over the years, Allen has become popular world-wide. His music has been featured on radio and television stations around the globe. Performing an exciting mix of traditional and contemporary Country music, his career has crossed paths with top music icons, like his longtime mentor, The Country Showman, Porter Wagoner. Allen also toured with and shared the stage with the legendary Ray Price for many years. He shared the stage with other greats like Gene Watson, Johnny Lee, Chuck Berry, Carl Perkins, Jerry Reed, Johnny Bush and many more. As a Grammy Award winner, his musical talents have also earned him 14 Gold and 2 Double Platinum music awards. He was inducted into the Texas Music Stars Hall of Fame in 2007. He received The Texas Music Legends Award in 2010. He was inducted into the Gatesville Texas Country Music Hall of Fame in 2012 and received the Hall of Fame Entertainer of The Year for 2013, Male Vocalist of The Year for 2014, Male Vocalist of the year for 2015 and the distinguished Texas Star Award for 2016. Allen was inducted into the Louisiana Legacy of Stars Hall of Fame in 2017. This Theater is run by donations. From the Friday and Saturday shows to the Monday night shows. These musicians love to come and play at this venue, but we need the surrounding communities to show your support. The theater is non-profit. We still need some volunteers to help with the concessions and with general things. So, if you are thinking about helping, please reach out by email or on the Facebook page. We are also looking for sponsors for the Friday and Saturday night shows; we have forms in the theater or contact us and will email a form to you. Did we tell you about this cost? It’s FREE we do pass the bucket at intermission to collect donations. We want people to come and listen to all types of music and to visit the musicians. Annual Gamma Golf Tournament

The Gamma House is scheduled to present the Annual Gamma Golf Tournament on Saturday, May 9, at Twin Lakes Golf Course in Mountain Home. Gamma House is a non-profit faith-based transitional living program that provides safe housing, life skills development, and support for women working toward stability and independence. The tournament will be a 4-person scramble and will use the Stableford scoring system. The Twin Lakes Golf Course is an 18-hole, regulation-length public course. Events like this tournament play a vital role in sustaining our mission and ensuring we can continue serving women in our community.

Keeping Up with the Food Closet

There is a quiet ritual I look forward to each week. Before I put a single word on the page, I sat for a moment and let the week wash over me — the faces, the conversations, the small and not-so-small acts of generosity that keep the Yellville Area Food Closet (YAFC) running. This column has always been my dedicated space to share what I think of as “moments of grace”, those unhurried, often unannounced instances of human kindness that quietly define who we are as a community. I cherish that time.
