Sheriff’s Report
Gregg Alexander, Marion County Sheriff For the week, Marion County Deputies responded to one hundred seven (107) calls for service and took sixteen (16) incident reports. Officers responded to six (6) domestic calls, took eight (8) theft reports and provided ten (10) wellbeing checks. Deputies made one (1) felony and four (4) misdemeanor arrests. A deputy graduated from basic training at the Law Enforcement Training Academy in Pocahontas. Investigators opened four (4) felony case investigations, completed affidavits and applied for arrest warrants for two (2) suspects charged with one (1) felony each. Investigators conducted six (6) interviews related to ongoing investigations and assisted in the search for a local runaway.
70th Wedding Anniversary
Bobby Lee Methvin and Joella Cunningham were married on May 9, 1953, at Bruno. Their 70th wedding anniversary is being celebrated on May 7, from 2 – 4 p.m.
Moose Lodge to hold annual Peitz Bowl-a-thon
Mountain Home Moose Lodge #1953 will again host its annual charity bowl-athon to benefit the Peitz Cancer Support House. The fun, family event will be held on Saturday, May 6, at Driftwood Lanes beginning at 12:00 p.m.
75th Anniversary of Women In The Military Photo Shoot 29 April
Arkansas Department of Veterans Affairs and Baxter County are scheduled to photograph women veterans in Mountain Home April 29, at the Baxter County Veterans Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Duffy to head MC Historical Society
During its January meeting, the Marion County Arkansas Heritage Society (MCAHS) elected Janice Stanley Duffy to serve a five-year term (2023-2028) as Marion County Historian. In coordination with the MCAHS, the Marion County Judge and Marion County Quorum Court recognized and acknowledged her selection.

Kerri Nettles, Arkansas BC&BS LITTLE ROCK — Forbes magazine again includes Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield among its list of America’s Best Midsize Employers. The company ranks 33rd in the nation in 2023, up 66 spots from 2022.
No Board Meeting
The Marion County Airport Board, MCAB, currently has no plans to hold a board meeting during the month of April. The MCAB plans to keep the public aware of future meetings as the meetings are announced.
