Hello readers and friends of the Mountaineer Echo, I hope this week finds everyone in good health and happy spirits. This week has been busy, we had a long weekend in Memphis, that it put us behind on getting the paper out, but we got it. I hope everyone is enjoying the paper and how it is progressing. We are happy that things are going well and enjoy putting the newspaper together for everyone to enjoy. I hope everyone has a wonderful week and As Always remember the Little Things.
Every garden season is filled with beautiful and tasty surprises along with a few challenges. One challenge gardeners face each year is managing insect pests while keeping the pollinators safe. Fortunately, only a very small percent of insects in our landscapes are harmful. The rest help pollinate plants, feed upon, or parasitize bad insects, or help decompose plant debris.
Have-A-Heart Pet Shelter Fayetteville — Amanda Cheatham, APRN, recently joined the Washington Regional Hospitalists group, where she evaluates and treats hospitalized patients. Cheatham earned a Doctor of Nursing Practice and a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of South Alabama and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Arkansas Fort Smith.

Cheatham earned a Doctor of Nursing Practice and a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of South Alabama and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Arkansas Fort Smith. She has more than 15 years’ experience in health care and most recently worked as a critical care advanced practice provider.
Fayetteville — Kyndal Murach, APRN, recently joined the Washington Regional Brain and Spine Surgery Clinic, part of the Washington Regional J.B. Hunt Transport Services Neuroscience Institute, where she provides care for patients in the clinic and hospital setting.
Another low-cost Spay and Neuter Clinic is in the books. Last week, Have-A-Heart (HAH hosted the clinic where 43 dogs and 63 cats were spayed or neutered. Just imagine how many unwanted puppies and kittens that will have prevented!
What parent does not remember Amelia Bedelia, The Berenstain Bears and Curious George? Bull Shoals Library has many of these children’s books. Originally written by Peggy Parish, Amelia Bedelia picture books are part of the I Can Read Book series to help young people learn to read.
Eureka Springs is a city steeped in natural and cultural appeal in the extreme northwest of Arkansas. It’s a resort city named after the abundance of surrounding mineral pools. The same therapeutic properties that attracted Indigenous cultures and settlers to this Ozark Mountains hideaway still attract tourists today, and visitors of all ages often appreciate the history here.
Summer vacation in my family usually just meant not going to school and days free to spend in adventure and fun. I only recall two “real” vacations my family ever took and one of those was to attend a convention for Ohio National Life Insurance, the company my dad and Grandfather both worked for. That convention was held at The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, and it was before my family moved back to Flippin when I was five years old.
