Compassionate Friends to meet
Mountain Home- “The Compassionate Friends of the Twin Lakes Area has resumed support group meetings and will meet Thursday evening January 6, 2022 from 6pm-8pm in the lower level of the Hospice of the Ozarks Administration building at 811 Burnett Drive in Mountain Home. This support group meets the first Thursday of every month and is for parents, grandparents and siblings who have experienced the death of a child, grandchild or sibling. All Covid measures will be observed, and masks are required to attend. Family and friends are more than welcomed to attend as we begin this new year - please join us.
Moose Lodge hosts fish & shrimp dinner
Mountain Home Moose Lodge #1953 will hold its monthly all-u-can-eat fried fish and shrimp dinner this coming Friday, January 7 from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. Guests may order fried fish, fried shrimp or a combination plate which also includes hushpuppies, French fries, coleslaw, vegetable, roll, dessert and a beverage.

New Dean of UAFS College of Health Selected
The University of Arkansas–Fort Smith has selected Dr. D. Antonio “Dean” Cantu as the Dean of the College of Health, Education, and Human Sciences. Cantu will begin his role Feb. 1, 2022. The search for the new head administrator has been underway since June of 2021, led by the ACES (Academic Career and Executive Search) national search firm.
Be the “glue” in 2022 . . .
The simple task of unpacking Christmas ornaments is like opening a time capsule. As we pick up each ornament a memory may be attached that takes us back in time or to loved ones and friends we love. Decorating the tree with these ornaments becomes a gift as we enjoy these memories. When my niece, Becca was little we began exchanging ornaments. I began giving her ornaments each year so that when she got married and had a home of her own, she would have some ornaments on her first Christmas tree. I’m going to try to begin the same tradition with my great-nieces and nephews. When I’m long gone, they will have ornaments for their trees from Aunt Pam and hopefully loving memories.

Here’s a fun fact I just read it in new book called The Blue Zones Challenge by Dan Buettner. Most New Year’s Resolutions last for 4-6 weeks. Then people go back to their old habits. So, there are two ways to approach this problem. You can do what the experts who follow the people who live the longest suggest and make meaningful changes in sustainable ways, like changing your environment, support group, etc. so that your every move becomes measurably better.
