Seeds of Hope Brings Gardening Home

Every week, this column highlights the resilience of our neighbors here in Marion County. Usually, we talk about the soup, cereal, and volunteers that keep the Yellville Area Food Closet (YAFC) running. This spring, though, we’re shifting our focus from the pantry shelf to the backyard soil with a new initiative: Seeds of Hope.

Spring MC Cattlemen’s Dinner

The only 2026 spring dinner meeting of the Marion County Cattlemen’s Association will be held Thursday, April 30, at 6:30 p.m. in the Yellville-Summit School cafeteria.

UA Northark to add Bachelor’s Degrees in Business and Education

By Micki Somers, HARRISON — North Arkansas College of the University of Arkansas (UA Northark) and the University of Arkansas at Monticello (UAM) are set to announce a new partnership that will expand access to affordable higher education in Arkansas. On Thursday, April 30, the two institutions will unveil a program allowing UA Northark students to earn bachelor’s degrees in Harrison at one of the state’s lowest tuition rates.

Gary Inness of Ash Flat

It is with great sorrow that we announce that Gary Michiel Inness passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at Eaglecrest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Ash Flat. Gary was born on February 14, 1952, in Pocohontas, to Billy Joe and Imogene Inness.

Lead Hill FBLA Competes

LEAD HILL - 10 of our FBLA members competed at the Arkansas FBLA State Leadership Conference in Little Rock this week: Dylan Cox, Jason Smith, Elizabeth Archer, Kasey Beard, Katie Bergan, Lennard Endres, Audrey Wessling, Violet Abraham, Isaak Farmer and Izaac Kopurtas. We are so proud of how well each of them performed and represented our school.
