Ian James Buchanan

Ian James Buchanan, 47, of Cherokee Village, passed away on March 17, 2025, at Hospice of the Ozarks in Mountain Home. He was born on December 22, 1977, in Washington, D.C., the son of James and Judy (Sutherland) Buchanan. James enjoyed cooking; he was a huge horror movie lover. James loved his car and was a member of the NEABASS Club. He was adventurous and liked being out in nature. James was always happy and had a smile on his face, he wanted the same for others. He would do anything for his family and friends, he loved his daughter Madison with his whole heart. After being diagnosed with cancer, James made the decision to go on a trail drug. He appreciated life and was a true fighter and fought till the end! James is survived by his mother, Judy; daughter, Madison and partner Nikole Odom. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him. Empty Acorns

He was born the same year that Crazy Horse fought his last battle against the United States Cavalry - 1877. Raised south of Houston, he learned the three R’s at Possum Trot school. He and his wife Martha (Shelton) are laid to rest on top of a steep hill at Oakdale cemetery. No, I didn’t know either of them, but I knew their son very well.
