Marion County Youth Spotlight

Yellville High School student, Lucas Gibson, has been shooting competitive trap actively since March 2021. Having been involved in family target shooting from a young age, Lucas has proven a natural skill to hold his own against fierce competitors. Gibson has demonstrated poise, perseverance, and professionalism within the sport and has been recognized by veteran shooters throughout the state.

After trying to Spend Money on local advertising, Mark Ellingson local resident realizes it WOULD be Loco to spend money advertising in a newspaper who doesn’t know HOW to advertise itself.

Hogs Bury the Cardinals at CWS

The Arkansas Razorbacks defeated the North Carolina Tarheels to punch their ticket to the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska at Charles Schwab Stadium. The Razorbacks’ opening opponent was the Stanford Cardinals on Saturday, June 18, at 1 p.m. The Hogs were the visiting team because of a lower national ranking for the CWS.

Turtles taking to the streets don’t box them in

Little Rock — Turtles are on the move all over Arkansas, and many can be found alongside roads in rural and suburban areas thanks to a wet, relatively cool spring that created excellent foraging areas in ditches and grassy areas beside the hustle of daily traffic. Many turtles are finishing up their annual breeding and egg-laying cycles, which also puts them on the move.

North Central Arkansas Prescribed Burn Association

The North Central Arkansas Prescribed Burn Association was formed in March of 2020, with the support and guidance of the Arkansas Game and Fish Department, Quail Forever, and USFWS Partners for Wildlife. It includes the counties of Marion, Searcy, Boone and Baxter in North Central Arkansas.
