Be Alert to Snake Bites

Here, in our rural Arkansas community, snakes can be lurking almost anywhere. Of primary concern are rattlesnakes and copperheads. If your dog enjoys walks in the woods or poking his nose in the woodpile, and what dog does not, he could be in for a nasty surprise.

Pets of the Week

Have-A-Heart Pet Shelter Hi there! My name is Blizzard, and the volunteers tell me I’m a “Pet of the Week.” I’m not sure what that means, but I hope it means I’ll have my own human(s) soon! Don’t get me wrong. They are all very nice here at HAH and they take good care of me and my friends, but I’m three whole months old and it’s time for me to have my own home.

The No. 1 Pro-Life State

Americans United for Life ranks Arkansas as the Number 1 pro-life state in the nation, and today I would like to talk about a few of the organizations and people that give meaning to that designation. Arkansas is blessed with thousands of people who devote their lives to promoting and protecting life.

School Safety Measures

Little Rock – When it meets in special session the legislature will consider a $50 million grant program for school safety measures. The governor proposed making grants available for schools that need financial help to implement recommendations made recently by the Arkansas School Safety Commission.

Arkansas School Safety Commission reinstated

The Governor is calling the General Assembly into an Extraordinary Session next week to address the use of surplus funds to provide tax relief and funding for school safety measures. The Arkansas School Safety Commission was reinstated in the wake of the school shooting in Uvalde, Texas.

Y-S 2022-23 VB Schedule

The Yellville-Summit (Y-S) Lady Panthers will face new conference foes during the 2022-23 Volleyball season by conference realignment. Y-S will open the season on Aug 22 at Bergman followed by Valley Springs and St.

SPORTS

The Cotter Lady Warriors will open the season at the Warrior Coliseum facing Quitman followed by a trip to Flippin to end the month of August. The Lady Warriors will travel to Yellville-Summit to open September.
