Life is difficult enough without comparing our lives to anyone else’s existence and I wonder if social media is damaging the self-esteem of not only our young people, but people of all ages. After all, our self-esteem isn’t directly correlated with our age.

Shelley Burch Named Director of Patient Financial Access

Fayetteville — Washington Regional has named Shelley Burch, CHAM, CRCR, as director of patient financial access. In her new role, Burch will be responsible for developing strategies to improve the overall patient access experience while overseeing the operations of patient access departments including central scheduling, precertification, preregistration, clinic admissions, admitting, emergency department admitting and public benefits.

Mike Matherly Named Director of Nutrition Services

Fayetteville — Washington Regional has named Mike Matherly as director of nutrition services. In his new role, Matherly will be responsible for overseeing operational needs of the nutrition department including food service programs to provide dietary services for patients, staff and visitors.

FOB Public Meeting with Fred Berry Crooked Creek Nature Center

MOUNTAIN HOME – The Friends of the Baxter County Library invite everyone to join them for their public meeting on Wednesday, September 28, 1:30 p.m. – 3 p.m. Speaker Heather Pitman, Fred Berry Crooked Creek Nature Center, Facility Manager, will speak about the center and some of the area’s unique features.

Arkansas Weekly Gas Price Update

Average gasoline prices in Arkansas have risen 5.6 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.17/g today, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 1,826 stations in Arkansas. Prices in Arkansas are 21.4 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand 33.4 cents per gallon higher than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has declined 7.0 cents in the last week and stands at $4.93 per gallon.

Brodsky appointed to AR Boys State leadership

LITTLE ROCK - Arkansas Boys State has named Andrew Brodsky as Director of Staff for the program, which has transformed the lives of young men throughout the state and beyond since 1940. Brodsky has been part of Arkansas Boys State since his delegate year in 2013, in which he represented Lakeside High School and was elected as Arkansas Boys State Speaker of the House.

Fishing on the Sac River

BA couple of weeks ago a friend and I found a stretch of the Sac River we wanted to fish, and a strange thing happened… we caught five incredibly large spotted bass on topwater lures. Often called Kentucky bass, they seldom are larger than 2 and 1/2 pounds in average waters of the Ozarks, even at four or five years of age.
