Hangin’ Out On the Corner

When I first started thinking about writing a column about memories of my childhood in Flippin in the 1960’s, I had one particular memory in mind that I wanted to share. I’d thought about it for a couple of years. Here it is almost five months and some 20+ columns since I began Growing Up Flippin and that story remains untold because I kept hoping to find some photos, to no avail. It will wait no longer.

Friday, September 23, the Yellville-Summit Panthers hosted the Perryville Mustang to open the conference portion of the 2022 season. In the first half, the Panthers struggled to get things on track.

MCQC Appropriates Money for Public Services

Tuesday, September 13, the Marion County Quorum Court (MCQC) met to discuss reports from committees, county offices, and ordinances for Marion County, Arkansas. Justices, Mike Scrima, Marty Nickels, Talon Vancuren, Rick White, James Underwood, Brady Madden, Wesley Shipman, Claudia Brigham and Joyce McCalla were in attendance, along with Judge John Massey.

Olen Edgmon of Harrison

Olen “Howard” Edgmon, age 83, of Harrison, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 18, 2022. He was born April 23, 1939, the son of Henry and Erbie (Villines) Edgmon He married to Virginia “Ginny” (Kellett). Howard retired from Duncan Industries after 41 years.

Sidney Homesley

Sidney Emmett Homesley, 77, of Diamond City Ar., passed away peacefully on September 24, 2022, with his loving wife by his side. He was born on December 9, 1944, in Des Moines, IA., to Carrel D. and Harriett K. (Benshoof) Homesley.

Political Campaign Signs Not Permitted in Highway Right-of-Way

LITTLE ROCK - ARDOT reminds candidates for political office and their supporters that it is unlawful to place campaign signs on any highway right-of-way in Arkansas. “There are several Arkansas statutes addressing encroachment and the placing of signs or other objects on highway right-of-way,” stated ARDOT Director Lorie Tudor.

Mountain Home Moose Lodge #1953 will hold its monthly all-u-can-eat fried fish and shrimp dinner this coming Friday, October 7, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Guests may order fried fish, fried shrimp or a combination plate which also includes hushpuppies, French fries, coleslaw, vegetable, roll, dessert and a beverage.
