Kay Lynette Weller, 69, of Republic, Missouri, passed away in Harrison, on January 19, 2024. Kay was born on November 7, 1954, in Mobile, Alabama, to James and Catherine (Barber) Bryant.

Second application period open for EAST grant funding

Jamie Moody, EAST Initiative Director of Marketing & Communications – The EAST Initiative on Wednesday announced the opening of second round applications for consideration in awarding the Department of Secondary Education/ Arkansas Department of Education-EAST Grant. Startup funding is available for at least 10 new programs for the 2024-2025 school year in addition to the programs selected in December, said Tami Baker, EAST’s Director of New Program Growth.

Big Winners at AGFC’s Big Squirrel Challenge

On January 13, Fred Berry Crooked Creek Nature Center, along with several other AGFC centers and regional offices, hosted the 3rd Annual Big Squirrel Challenge. Participants came from all over the Ozark region to show off their squirrel hunting skills, and the results were not disappointing.

Moose Lodge hosts fish & shrimp dinner

Mountain Home Moose Lodge #1953 will hold its first monthly fried fish and shrimp dinner of 2024 this coming Friday, February 2nd from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. Guests may order fried fish, fried shrimp or a combination plate which also includes hushpuppies, French fries, coleslaw, vegetable, roll, dessert and a beverage.

Johnson named to SAU’s Fall 2023 Dean’s List
