FAYETTEVILLE - Local students were named to the Fall 2023 Dean›s and Chancellor›s Lists in the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Arkansas. To qualify for the Dean’s List, the following local students achieved at least a 3.75 grade-point average for the semester while completing at least 12 credit hours.

Have-A-Heart Pet Shelter Greetings everyone! Looks like we are in for some warmer weather and the furbabies and volunteers at Have-A-Heart are very grateful. This week we have a couple of real cuties to share with you.

On January 13, Fred Berry Crooked Creek Nature Center, along with several other AGFC centers and regional offices, hosted the 3rd Annual Big Squirrel Challenge. Participants came from all over the Ozark region to show off their squirrel hunting skills, and the results were not disappointing.
Kay Lynette Weller, 69, of Republic, Missouri, passed away in Harrison, on January 19, 2024. Kay was born on November 7, 1954, in Mobile, Alabama, to James and Catherine (Barber) Bryant.
Ardith Evelyn (Jones) Satterwhite of Diamond City, passed away on January 27. She was born July 7, 1933, in Winnebago, Nebraska.

Ashley Jean Parlet was born on March 2, 1997, in Mountain Home Arkansas, at the Baxter Regional Hospital alongside her twin brother. Ashley was raised in Yellville in a loving family of 4 brothers and 4 sisters, her own real-life version of the TV show Full House.

Elmo Hurst passed away from this world on January 20, 2024, at the age of One Hundred Two years and Nine months young. He was preceded in death by his wife of seventy years, Nadine (Ott) Hurst. He was born on April 21, 1921, to John Brooksher and Agatha Jane (Jefferson) Hurst.
