WASHINGTON — The Department of Veterans Affairs today announced it’s on pace to reduce total VA staff by nearly 30,000 employees by the end of fiscal year 2025, eliminating the need for a largescale reduction-in-force.

Jennifer Maree McGlothlin, a beacon of joy and resilience, passed away unexpectedly at her home in rural Marion County, Arkansas, on June 26, 2025, due to complications related to her lifelong condition of Cerebral Palsy. She was born on May 5, 1983, at St.
Fay Chism, 2025 Yellville Summit High School graduate, is one of forty western Arkansas students awarded an academic scholarship from Farm Credit of Western Arkansas. Fay plans to attend Arkansas State University in the fall. Fay is the granddaughter of Farm Credit member Kennith Chism. “We proudly award this well-deserved scholarship in recognition of Fay’s many academic accomplishments and student leadership,” said Farm Credit of Western Arkansas CEO Brandon Haberer. “We’ve distributed more than $440,000 in scholarship awards since 1996 to help talented young people like Fay achieve their academic goals,” Haberer added. “These scholarships demonstrate our commitment to the next generation of agriculture and community leaders.” As a financial cooperative, Farm Credit lends money to farmers, ranchers and rural homeowners. Sherry Lee Ritchey, 76, of Peel, Arkansas, passed away at Cox Medical Center in Branson, on July 4, 2025. She was born on January 25, 1949, in Lincoln, Nebraska, the daughter of Howard and Marion (McAdam) Chandler.
