Bass Pro, the parent company to Ranger Boats in Flippin, laid off a total of 176 employees at three boat manufacturing facilities in Lebanon, Bolivar and Flippin because of a downturn in product sales.
Penny was surrendered to the Shelter on February 4th when her owner passed away and she needed a new family to love her. Penny is a very sweet, good dog. However, when she was brought to the Shelter the comment was made that she looked more like a Pot-Bellied Pig than a Dachshund, weighing in at 40 pounds on arrival. The average size for a Standard Dachshund is eight to nine inches tall, 16-32 pounds, with a life expectancy of 12-16 years.

Brigham announced the budget committee will meet on the fourth Thursday of each month. The next meeting is scheduled for 5 p.m. inside the Marion County Court Complex Building. Also, the quorum court decided that Justice Hutching cannot represent Marion County in Little Rock and John Reed will fill-in. The next MCQC meet is scheduled to meet May 14, in the MC Courthouse at 6 p.m.

The legislature convened the fiscal session and will spend the next month working on a $6.3 billion budget for the fiscal year that begins July 1. The legislature has always approved conservative budgets, and the balanced budget proposed by the governor is very conservative even by traditional standards.
