Hey Y’all, Welcome back to the kitchen! As always, I hope everyone is having a great week and doing well. I know for us it seems summer is starting to wind down as the kiddos are getting ready to go back to school next month. But I am thankful that I still have a beautiful garden that’s giving me an abundance of fresh produce. I also need to step up my game and get to canning some pickles, pickled veggies, some veggie soup, salsa, crushed tomatoes, and marinara.
What does Conservation mean? The definition in the dictionary says, “the act of conserving: prevention of injury, decay, waste or loss; preservation; and the careful utilization of a natural resource in order to prevent depletion”. So, what does that mean for each and every one of us? Practices have been followed for years by some people to preserve the valuable resources we have here in our area.

Fifty years ago, this summer I was working at Buffalo River as a naturalist for the National Park Service. It was a grand time and I loved it. In October you can help me celebrate those days and my birthday by joining me for a float down the Buffalo River.
