Volunteers gathered for a photo at Yellville-Summit High School durint the Individual Readiness Training conducted to provide free medical and dental treatment to area residents from Marion, Baxter and Boone Counties.
IN THE HEAT OF THE DAY — Keeping chickens alive through the summer heat comes down to a few basics. Zac Williams, extension poultry husbandry and management specialist for the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture, said that for both commercial producers and backyard hobbyists, keeping chickens alive through the summer heat comes down to a few basics.
For the week ending 8/25, Deputies responded to fortyseven (47) calls for service. Of those, Deputies provided one (1) welfare check and worked five (5) domestic disputes. Deputies completed fifteen (15) incident reports and four (4) crash reports and assisted in multiple other motor vehicle crashes. Deputies served one (1) person outstanding warrants and arrested one (1) person on new felony charges. One deputy continues to progress in his Field Training. Deputies served twenty-seven (27) hours as court bailiffs.
First up is Foxy! This boy is a handsome, 32 pound one-yearold red and white mixed breed dog. Foxy is a gentle stray who was rescued by a nice lady who took care of him until we could make room for him at the shelter.

Alesia Owen, Chairman of the Scholarship Committee has announced that the Mid-Marion County Rotary Club awarded Seven (7) $1,000.00 scholarships this year to area high school graduates. Jerry Elwin Edwards, 76, of Bergman, passed away on August 16, 2023, in Harrison. Jerry was born on June 12, 1947, to Elwin and Pearl Edwards. He is survived by his wife, Jolene Edwards; daughters, Glynna (Ken) Allen, Jade Edwards, and Karsen Edwards; many family and friends.
Peggy Mason The regular meeting of the Flippin City Council was held Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. at the Flippin City Hall. Members present were Tony Ford, Lacie Bettencourt and Margaret Ott, with Mayor Heith Hogan presiding.
Marion County is using some of the American Rescue Funds to establish a Coroner’s Office which is located at 491 Hwy 62 W, Yellville, AR 72687. In addition, a 4-wheel drive vehicle has been purchased to aid the coroner with his duties.
