Area schools qualified for the 2021-22 State Basketball Tournaments in Junction City, Arkansas and in Morrilton, Arkansas. The tournament’s start was delayed by two days because of a Winter storm that caused the Regional Tournament to start five days late.

The Western Grove Bears traveled to the Regional Tournament in Branch, Arkansas, at County Line High School to play the Mulberry Yellowjackets in a firstround contest. The winner advanced to the State Basketball Tournament and the loser’s season comes to a close.

The Arkansas Razorbacks hosted the #6 Kentucky Wildcats in a Southeastern Conference (SEC) basketball game on Saturday, February 26, at 1 p.m. in “The Basketball Palace of Mid-America” or Bud Walton Arena.

Tournaments for Class 1A and 2A were scheduled to begin on Wednesday, February 23. Both tournaments were delayed because of winter weather making travel treacherous. Tournaments began on Saturday, February 26 at 4 p.m. Because of the weather, the rarely used rule was put in place to allow schools to play on Sunday with games beginning at 1 p.m.
