Lucas McVay finished the Decathlon in 15th place with 4,927 points, while teammate Caiden Curtis was unable to finish after rolling an ankle on the last jump during the triple jump event. McVay finished 59th in the 100-Meter Dash, 26th in the Long Jump, 42nd in the Shot Put, 17th in the High Jump and 37th in the 400-Meter Dash to end the first day of the Decathlon.

Big Creek Golf & Country Club’s 2022 Cup Team hung on by a single point for a thrilling 15-14, threepeat victory in the Ozark Cup matches against Harrison Country Club this weekend. Saturday’s best-ball and alternate-shot matches were in Mountain Home with Big Creek winning the best ball by 4 1/2 to 2 1/2 and winning alternate shot by the identical score.

Little Rock — Last month Jon Stein, Arkansas Game and Fish Commission (AGFC) fisheries biologist in northwest Arkansas, had the opportunity to present to AGFC commissioners and the public the highlights from the latest large-scale habitat project at Beaver Lake. Biologists created 145 new fish attractor locations during the project, but it’s only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to habitat and fish-attracting cover the AGFC has placed in the last five years. Thanks to the AGFC’s interactive map, you can get the exact GPS location of each fish attractor to load to your smartphone or fish finder to get a head start on the search for more fish.

The annual Ozark Cup match-play event between Big Creek Golf & Country Club and Harrison Country Club is this weekend. The Big Creek team is looking for a three-peat and has home course advantage for Saturday’s alternate-shot and best-ball rounds. The Sunday singles matches will be played in Harrison.

The Yellville-Summit Girls Track Team won the State Championship for the second year straight at Quitman High School, while the Boy’s team finished runner-up for the second consecutive year. Both teams have won the District Title three years running

Big Creek is hosting the American Midwest Conference men’s golf championship yesterday and today. It was supposed to be 36 holes yesterday and 18 today. Due to the bad weather (MH had a record rainfall for the day of 2.78” yesterday), the teams only completed part of one round yesterday afternoon before another round of thunderstorms moved in.

JACKSONVILLE – Everything is back to normal, Arkansas Game and Fish Commission organizers say, with the return of the Arkansas Youth Shooting Sports Program championships, scheduled for five of the next six weekends at the Arkansas Game and Fish Foundation Jacksonville Shooting Sports Complex.
