Little Rock – During a ceremony today at the State Capitol, Governor Hutchinson joined agriculture leaders and industry partners in declaring March 20 – 26 as Arkansas Agriculture Week and March as Peanut Month in Arkansas. The proclamations highlight the agriculture industry, the state’s peanut industry, and the value both contribute to Arkansas’s economy. The Master Gardeners of Marion County will be having our annual plant and bake sale on Friday, April 22, from 7:30 a.m. until sold out at the Yellville City Park.

March 22 is National Ag Day, a time for us to thank farmers, ranchers and foresters for feeding, sheltering and powering our nation. We also want to celebrate and recognize the pivotal role of Arkansas producers in mitigating climate change through voluntary conservation efforts.

Marion County Community Services (MCCS, Inc.) recently had a successful Irish Dinner at the Fairgrounds to raise funds for the Marion County Community Center Project. We are lucky to have the support of so many donors and over 80 in attendance and want to thank you!

The Honorable Lafayette Woods, Jr., Sheriff of Jefferson County has filed a lawsuit in the Circuit Court of Jefferson County on March 21, 2022, against the Quorum Court of Jefferson County and County Judge of Jefferson County.

The Marion County Budget Committee will meet on Thursday, March 31 at 5:30 p.m. at the annex. Agenda items will include a cyber security presentation and cleaning up some line items in the 2022 budget. The public is invited to attend.
