All aboard…the Bookmobile!

In the several weeks I’ve been writing this column, I’ve mentioned a couple of times how important my bicycle figured into my childhood. But, next to our bikes, the hottest thing on wheels in the summertime in Flippin was the Bookmobile! I hadn’t thought about it in a long time, but another childhood friend mentioned it in a Facebook comment about last week’s column on going to church camp.

Rutledge Continues to Combat Robocalls with FCC and 40 States

Little Rock – Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge joins 40 other attorneys general acknowledging the Federal Communications Commission’s ongoing work to combat robocalls. In the letter attorneys general sent to the Commission, they recognized the FCC’s work encouraging states to join information-sharing agreements and collaboratively address complex robocalls issues.

Bull Shoals Dam Closed June 1

State Highway 178 across Bull Shoals Dam from Bull Shoals to Lakeview was closed to traffic June 1, by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) to deploy and remove equipment used to perform maintenance on the dam’s sluice gates and USACE coordinated the closure with emergency services. Summer Layoffs in the County

It is rumored the Marion County Road Department conducted a meeting asking for voluntary layoffs. They say the County Judge is prepared to layoff Road Department employees and the meeting was conducted by Greg Ashton of the Road Department. Let’s examine the need, feasibility and outcomes for layoffs of the Road Department employees during the Summer in Marion County.
