Fire Restrictions at Buffalo National River

Harrison – Due to the continued dry conditions across the Ozarks, as of October 17, 2024, lighting or maintaining a campfire within the boundaries of Buffalo National River is prohibited except in the following locations: Within designated campgrounds with established campfire grates/rings; On gravel bars in areas that are naturally devoid of vegetation; Free standing charcoal or gas grills may be used in developed campgrounds and day use picnic areas. There are no restrictions on the use of propane or liquid fueled stoves and lanterns, and their use remains permitted in all areas of the park.

Lightin Ridge

I took a recent trip to Jefferson City to interview the new director of the Department of Conservation, and it turned out to be the disappointment I expected. I was trying to get him to come to some venue in the Ozarks to meet with hunters, fishermen and outdoorsmen.
