LITTLE ROCK – This week, Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge and a coalition of 44 attorneys general urged TikTok and Snapchat to give parents the ability to monitor their children’s social media usage and protect their children from online threats through parental control apps. These apps would empower parents to ensure that social media platforms are a safe space for their children.

The Dick Trammel Good Neighbor Award - the Rogers community’s highest honor - was first awarded in 1974. March is Women’s History Month and as I’m writing this column it’s ending. It seems appropriate to discuss the life of my paternal grandma, Charlotte Fleming, who passed from this life on March 18 and lived a century’s worth of history. They say that with the passing of our elders along with them goes a library of history. This could be said of my grandmother. She was one of 11 children growing up during the Depression, and as a young wife, raised her young children alone during World War II while her husband fought in the war. She was a twin and she and my grandpa would also be parents to a set of twins. She was a strong woman who learned to stand up for herself at an early age. She and her husband, Roy were a part of what has been called the “Greatest Generation”. They each possessed the type of character that sadly, seems rare today. They had a solid sense of integrity and robust work ethics.

Hello everyone, I hope this week finds you all in good health and happy spirits. Here on the home front all is going well, or as well as it can be. As I always say why gripe about it, nobody can do anything about it but myself, so I always just put on a smile and go about my business and do the best I can with what I have in me. I enjoy finding old recipes that my mother, grandmother, and aunts have passed on to me. I love to cook and sometimes when I am typing these recipes up, I find myself sad because I just don’t have the time to cook like I used to. I thought as we got older, we were supposed to have more time than when we were younger. But honestly, I had more time when my youngest two children were home and I was a stay at home mom. I fixed a nice breakfast, lunch and a very nice dinner every night.
