Newly Elected Officials and supporters gathered at the Marion County Courthouse Sunday, January 1, 2023, to swear to an oath to serve the city, county, state and United States to preserve and improve the way of life for Marion County residents.

The new Marion County Sheriff exited the Marion County Courthouse and immediately went to his new office at the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, MCSO, to receive a blessing from Dave Wallace of George’s Creek.

I sometimes refer to John as my little buddy. He may be small in stature, but he is huge in his helpfulness and dedication to our VFW and his friends. His tireless support has made VFW Post 1341 a better post.

In what turned out to be one of the less contentious meetings in the past several months, outgoing Mayor, David Nixon presided over the final 2023 meeting of the Bull Shoals City Council on December 29. With only Councilman Daryl Lindman absent, the Council convened at 6:30 p.m. and moved swiftly through the thirty-minute session.

The City Council of Gassville met Tuesday, December 20, in the Gassville Community Center. At the December 20, Gassville City Council meeting, State Representative Jack Fortner was present to recognize Sergeant Ron Weaver for his actions during a March 2021 battery case.

Greg Alexander recently attended training in Little Rock Conducted by the Arkansas Sheriffs’ Association. The training began December 11 and ended on December 16.
