During the month of February, various churches in Marion County once again celebrated Kindness Month. The churches chose to honor volunteers throughout the county by gifting them with snacks, goodies, lunches or in other ways.

The Marion County Republican Committee will meet Thursday, March 10, 2022, upstairs in the Marion County Courthouse at 7 p.m. The public and members are invited to attend.

PINE BLUFF – Rocky Thornburg has been flying duck surveys long before any of the current Arkansas Game and Fish Commission biologists conducting surveys were on the agency payroll. A pilot based in Pine Bluff; Thornburg began flying low-altitude aerial waterfowl surveys in 1992 to allow AGFC staff to count ducks in the state.

$25.3 million went back into the hands of Farm Credit members across Arkansas in late February. As a financial cooperative, members share in the profits when their Farm Credit association has a profitable year.

MANILA– Big Lake Wildlife Management Area and Big Lake National Wildlife Refuge will be closed to daytime public access March 6-12. The following week, the U of A (University of Arkansas) Pine Tree Wildlife Management Area will be closed March 13-19. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service Wildlife Services, in cooperation with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, will be conducting aerial operations aimed at reducing feral hog populations in the areas. The flights will be dependent on the weather.
