Area Schools seek Gold Ball

Robert Lyons Each year during the month of February, local high school basketball teams realize the thrill of victory of a successful season or the agony of defeat by not meeting expectations. This year, many area teams are leaving the District Tournaments and heading to the Regional Tournaments trying to advance to the State Tournament and an opportunity to win at the highest level.

2A Junior District Tournament

Greenland – Greenland High School was awarded to host the Junior District Tournament for 2A schools. Ozark Mountain, Yellville-Summit, Eureka Springs, Haas Hall-Bentonville, Cotter, Life Way Christian and Greenland participated in action in Boys and Girls action. The Yellville-Summit Lady Panthers began the tournament by facing the Eureka Spring Lady Highlanders. The Yellville-Summit Lady Panthers won the game to advance to play Thursday, February 8, at 6:30 p.m. versus the Cotter Lady Warriors. Cotter defeated the host school Greenland to play on Thursday night.

MV Spring Bluegrass Festival Set March

Keith Symanowitz, Promotions Director & Park Interpreter Mountain View – The 22nd Annual Mountain View Spring Bluegrass Festival will be held at the Ozark Folk Center’s 1,000-seat indoor music venue, Ozark Highlands Theater, on Mar. 7, 8, and 9. The event is produced by Mountain View Bluegrass Assoc., a non-profit organization, whose mission is to benefit the Music Roots Program for youth in Mountain View Public Schools.
