Yellville High School student, Lucas Gibson, has been shooting competitive trap actively since March 2021. Having been involved in family target shooting from a young age, Lucas has proven a natural skill to hold his own against fierce competitors. Gibson has demonstrated poise, perseverance, and professionalism within the sport and has been recognized by veteran shooters throughout the state.

On July 3, Hickey Park will be the place to be to celebrate the nation’s Independence Day as the Flippin Fireworks Festival gets off to a booming start. This year’s entertainment will be featuring Nashville recording artist, Tyler Braden. If ever there was a country artist ready to set the world on fire, it would have to be Tyler Braden.

Little Rock – Applications for the 2022 Arkansas alligator season are available at www.agfc.com from 8 a.m., June 15 through midnight, June 30. Anyone interested in pursuing alligators on public land in Arkansas must apply for one of the six hunting locations within two of Arkansas’s three open Alligator Management Zones.

The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) in collaboration with the Department of Energy and Environment (E&E) conducted a virtual public involvement meeting Tuesday, June 21, at 4 p.m. regarding the Arkansas Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Deployment Plan.

It’s always a good time to subscribe to Arkansas Wildlife, the bimonthly magazine produced by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, although this may be the best time of year. The July-August issue of the magazine is the calendar edition, full of information about the Arkansas outdoors such as hunting dates and sunrise/sunset times, and stunning photos of native wildlife.

The Tri-State Press Convention will be held June 23 – 25 in Memphis, Tennessee. The convention will begin on Thursday, June 23 with events, conferences and luncheons to advise, teach and tour sites in Memphis and surrounding areas.

On Saturday, June 18th, Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) will honor Third District students who are headed to U.S. Military Service Academies this coming school year. The event will celebrate student accomplishments, provide them with a chance to meet their peers, and allow them to receive advice from Congressman Womack and service academy graduates as they prepare for their next chapter. Arkansans who recently graduated from academies will also be recognized during the event.
