The Arkansas Legislative Council this week adopted a resolution urging federal leaders to take swift action to support Arkansas farmers amid mounting economic challenges. The resolution recognizes agriculture as the backbone of the state’s economy and a vital part of America’s food security, noting that many producers are struggling with high interest rates, unpredictable weather, volatile markets, and rising costs for seed, fuel, fertilizer, and equipment.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month, observed every October, aims to raise awareness about breast cancer, promote early detection, and support research and treatment initiatives.

The Marion County Arkansas Heritage Society will be hosting a workshop on Headstone Cleaning 101 on Saturday, November 1, from 10 a.m. to noon. The workshop will be held on the Upper Level of the Summit Community Building at the MC Fairgrounds, 513 East Seawell Avenue in Summit.

The proposed Marion County Community Center and ordinances for its placement on March 3, 2026, ballot will be discussed on Thursday, October 23 Procedures & Management Committee meeting. This meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the Marion County Courthouse courtroom.

The October dinner meeting of the Marion County Cattlemen’s Association will be held Tuesday, October 21, at 6:30 p.m. in the old Yellville-Summit cafeteria.
