A few years back I was amused to see where there were a dozen or so “outdoorsmen” competing in an event to determine the best outdoorsman in the country. Reckon they actually narrowed it down to the very top outdoorsman? How ridiculous is such an effort? Most likely, the very best of the outdoorsmen would never even become involved in such a silly thing.

Yellville-Summit proudly released the 4th Quarter 9 Weeks Honor Roll for all A’s and 3.0 for the third grade through sixth grade. The following students received all A’s for the 4th Quarter 9 weeks:

Suspect in Marion County double homicide waives extradition, charged in murders
Dale Mark Stikeleather, 64, is being held without bond and charged in connection with the murders of a Marion County couple earlier this month. Stikeleather had resided at a home near the murder scene, but later located in Sugarland, Texas and questioned on May 16th by Arkansas State Police Special Agents. He was subsequently charged in Marion County with theft of property and held in Texas.

Every May, our nation commemorates those who have died while serving in our armed forces on Memorial Day. In our local community the Rapert-Poyner Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #8347 has a short ceremony every year and they place flags on deceased veterans’ graves in community cemeteries.

Through no fault of my own, it has come to my attention that May is Older American Month. This gave me pause. Let me see if I have this straight. May is a month. I get that. For Older Americans. Um, what the what?!
