Before we get to our Pets of the Week, it seems to be a good time to remind everyone about how important it is to treat animals for fleas and ticks (especially this time of year). This came to the forefront, once again, last week when two tiny kittens were brought into the Shelter.
Within the past two weeks, I have attended the visitation and memorial service for two of my first cousins. While these were sad occasions, they also got me thinking about a special part of my youth.
LITTLE ROCK — On June 22, 2023, the Arkansas Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Commission (ANRC) approved $702,318,258 in funding for 122 water and wastewater projects serving more than 1,253,000 Arkansans. This is the largest allocation of funds awarded for water and wastewater in the state of Arkansas to date.

FAYETTEVILLE - Zachary Huddleston of Flippin recently graduated from the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Arkansas with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. Huddleston joined more than 900 additional undergraduate Fulbright College students who graduated in spring 2023 and whose academic achievement was celebrated during the commencement ceremonies on Friday, May 12, in Bud Walton Arena.
US flags will be displayed during daylight hours at many Marion County area businesses and offices on Tuesday, July 4th in recognition of Independence Day, weather permitting -- i.e., if there is less than a 50% prediction of rain.

Saturday, June 24, The Red, White and Blue Festival ended with a BANG! The annual festival held at Arkansas State University- Mountain Home ended with a spectacular display of fireworks to amaze the masses of people that were in attendance. People travel from all areas in Northern Arkansas to attend to Ooh and Ahh as the bombs burst in the sky.
The Calico Rock Lions club will once again bring the community and surrounding area their annual Fourth of July Rayvon Cantrell Fireworks Extravaganza on Monday (July 3) evening, at dusk in Earl King Park off state highway 56 in Calico Rock. The event never fails to entertain all those who attend, young and old alike.
