Cooking with Mumzy!

Hello everyone, I hope this week finds you all in good health and happy spirits. Here on the home front all is going well, or as well as it can be. As I always say why gripe about it, nobody can do anything about it but myself, so I always just put on a smile and go about my business and do the best I can with what I have in me. I enjoy finding old recipes that my mother, grandmother, and aunts have passed on to me. I love to cook and sometimes when I am typing these recipes up, I find myself sad because I just don’t have the time to cook like I used to. The City now has the legal right to mitigate the condemned mobile home and will follow the correct process to do that.

Life and Times of the Pool Hall Kid

EXCERPT from the book— “Life and Times of the Pool Hall Kid” (not yet published) Probably it happened when I was eleven, maybe twelve. I think that’s when it was…back when I wasn’t very smart. Dad and Grandpa McNew had purchased, via bank loan, the Pool Hall about halfway down Main Street there in Houston. Dad was making some changes, putting in better spittoons and cleaning everything and putting up some big pictures. (One was of a flock of ducks, another of a fish jumping out of water.) Lights over the tables had to be cleaned and given brighter bulbs. And Grandpa wanted to move the big ‘chest’ soda machine.
