Roger Alan Carlson of Mountain Home

Roger Alan Carlson was born on August 21, 1936, in Minot, Minnesota. He passed away on March 9, 2024, in Mountain Home.

Roger served in the Armed services at Fort Bliss, Texas. After his army service, he attended college and studied geology. He then had a fulfilling career in oil and coal geological exploration.

In Rogers later years, he taught geology and math at Arkansas State University, Mountain Home. There, his education and expertise in geology made a lasting impact on his students.

Roger’s hobbies included golf, bowling, tinkering with cars and woodworking. Roger was married to his beloved wife Phyllis on November 30, 1962. Their union lasted for over 60 wonderful years filled with love, understanding and shared memories.

Roger will be remembered for his dedication to his work, his unwavering love for his family, and his kind and gentle spirit. He has left behind a legacy that will continue to inspire all those who were fortunate enough to have known him.

Roger is survived by son, Jared (Sharon) Carlson of Raton, New Mexico; daughter, Brooke (David) Dinger of Prattville, Alabama; grandchildren: Mitchell Dinger, Molly Dinger, Cayde Carlson, and Lauren Carlson; as well as step-grandchildren, Cortney and Kaiti Langley; and brother, Richard Carlson.

He was preceded in death by parents, Tollef, and Ruby Carlson; wife, Phyllis; and brothers; Ronald Carlson and Terrance Carlson.

Celebration of Life for Roger will be on Saturday March 30, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., at the Norfork United Methodist Church, with Pastor Kevin Gilbee officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the Alley-White American Legion Post #52 and United States Army Honor Guards.
