TREES

What are the benefits of trees? Have you ever thought that trees can help lower high temperatures? Do you prefer to stand in the shade or the sun on these 100 degree days we have been having? What about your livestock? If shade trees are provided, that has forage underneath, will they graze more and be more productive? If trees are close to our house and provides some shade for it, will that help to have a cooler house, therefore making our high energy bill less? As with any beneficial practice there comes some disadvantages also.

The Cave on the Piney

First time I ever saw it was something about, or around, 65 years ago. It was just a huge hole in the side of the bluff overlooking the lower Big Piney River, a fantastic looking cave about 50 or 60 feet above the base of the bluff, and likely 15 or 20 feet down from the peak of it. Inaccessible!

PETS OF THE WEEK

We would like to introduce you to this handsome gentleman. Gunner is a two-year-old Lab mix and he currently is a svelte 74-pounds. COOKING WITH MUMZY!

Hello readers and friends of the Mountaineer Echo, I hope this week finds everyone in good health and happy spirits. We had a wonderful time in Flippin this past weekend going to the 35th Annual Flippin Fireworks at Hickey Park. The was a huge number of people there with lots of vendors and just to watch all of the children play was super nice. The fireworks were very nice and both bands were great. It is so nice to see the community still come together for such special events. I hope everyone has a wonderful week and As Always remember the Little Things.

A trip to The Little Rock Zoo

Every one loves animals, or at least most people do. One spot that is poplar, a nice day trip, and not cost an arm and leg to enjoy the day. One thing that can make this trip less expensive is to pack a picnic lunch and go out to your vehicle and enjoy lunch and then return back to finish seeing the animals and the different sites around the zoo. The is admission and a parking fee, but it is minimal for a day trip. The zoo is stroller friendly and ADA accessible. Strollers and wheelchairs are available for rent through the Safari Trader Market at the front entrance.
