Royal Harrington of Lead Hill

Royal Newton “Roy” Harrington, of Lead Hill, Arkansas, joined Heaven’s band on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at the age of 94. Roy was one of eleven children born to Avery and Cordia Crabtree Harrington. He was born in Goodman, Missouri on May 27, 1928. He moved to Lead Hill over 25 years ago from Gainesville, Missouri.

Roy was a US Army Veteran, enlisting in November 1948, and served his country during the Korean conflict with the 529th Signal Operations Company. While enlisted, he received a United Nations Service Medal, Distinguished Unit Emblem, Presidential Unit Citation, Korean Service Medal with 5 bronze campaign stars, and a Bronze Star award for Valor. He was honorably discharged in June 1952.

Roy was a gifted musician and loved playing the acoustic guitar. He enjoyed jam sessions with many friends, and especially loved bluegrass. He also loved to go fishing. Roy was a very kind-hearted and giving man. He could always be counted on to be self-spoken and “tell you how it was”. He will certainly be remembered for his genuine, sweet spirit. Roy is survived by children and their spouses, Royal Randall (Tanya) Harrington, Pamela (Gary) Baer, Bobby (Janice) Rogers, Billy (Gail) Rogers, Deanna Burleson (Ron Vierling), Timmy (Tyna) Rogers, and Robin (Bonnie) Hiner; 20 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, extended relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by parents; wife, Beulah Jo Harrington; sons, Patrick Harrington, Jimmy Rogers, Jay Hiner, Alan Hiner; siblings, Martha, Maxine, Howard, Mary, Lucy, Lee, Bonnie, Frank, Elizabeth; and an infant sister, Blanche.

Funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, September 9, 2022, at Coffman Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Roger Rogers officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Milum Cemetery in Lead Hill.
